Sallie Martin (Cross)

Sallie Martin Cross April 28, 1952 - May 17, 2025 Sallie Martin Cross, of Henrico County, VA, passed away after complications from a recurrence of metastatic breast cancer. Born on April 28, 1952, in Richmond, she was the daughter of Robert Ray Martin and Mary Coleman (Green) Martin. A 1970 graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School, Sallie continued her education at Wake Forest University before earning degrees from both the VCU School of Business and the VCU School of Nursing. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church, where she remained deeply involved throughout her life. Sallie also volunteered with hospice care and contributed to Feedmore's efforts to fight hunger in the community. Sallie is survived by her husband of 49 years, Richard Mahaley Cross; their children, Robert Michael Cross (Liliana Rodriguez) and Elizabeth Martin Cross Jakesch (Simon Johannes Jakesch); and four grandchildren: Diego Martin Cross, Richard Marco Cross, Pippin Kollbich Jakesch, and Coleman Beowulf Jakesch. She is also survived by her sister, Katherine Martin Shapiro (Jerry), and sister-in-law Debra Cross Eib (Chris) and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents; her in-laws Richard Holladay Cross, Francis Elaine Mahaley Cross, and Brenda Cross Jones. A Celebration of Life service will occur on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Grace Baptist Church.
