I have very fond memories of "Rosalee", as I knew her from our early childhood friendship. We lived four houses away from each other on W. Franklin Street and loved to get together after school and do homework on the floor in their den, while The Andy Griffith Show and other favorite TV shows were on. This was probably grades 3 - 5. We each made lots of other friends, and didn't spend lots of time together later, but Rosalee was always a special person to me.

Rosa, as she preferred to be called later, taught me a lot about being Jewish. Today, whenever I think about or see a menorah, I picture the one on the mantle of the Schiff home. I tasted matzo and other  traditional Jewish foods that were served during Passover, and I felt like I was in the know when other Jewish friends brought them to school for lunch.

Her family moved as did mine later, and we completely lost touch. I was shocked and saddened to see that Rosa had passed away. I immediately went to Facebook and was able to find her oldest brother, Ivan, who responded and told me that she had died of breast cancer at age 40. It is interesting to hear about and see what has transpired in the lives of classmates and friends, but it was especially sad to see that Rosa died so young. I am thankful, however, for the happy times we had together.

Amazingly, another neighbor, who lived just next door to us, Woody Anders, is also deceased. See comment on his page.

I am an 8-year Breast Cancer survivor (my mother passed away from breast cancer at my current age).  Please let me know if I can provide encouragement or recovery suggestions for you or a loved one with cancer.  More and more people are surviving cancer and new ways are being discovered to naturally enhance the immune system.
