Arthur Ryland Jennings III, 71 of Maidens, passed away at his home March 27, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur R. Jennings, Jr. and Margaret Allen Jennings; and sister, Carolyn Jennings Helwig. He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Kimberley; son, Arthur R. “Rylee” Jennings IV (Jasmine Cuellar); sister, Patricia Jennings Coor; two devoted nephews, Christopher and Gregory (Jen) Bradshaw; niece, Jennifer Coor; his faithful hound dog, Tommy; and numerous other loving extended family members. Arthur had a varied career starting as a tennis pro, followed by work in Parks and Recreation, managing his own building company, and car sales. However, for the last 20 years his greatest pride was his career as a subject matter expert, employed by several government contract companies and FEMA doing disaster recovery. He worked over 50 disasters including Hurricane Isabel in Virginia, Hurricane Katrina in Mississippi and Hurricanes Irma and Maria in the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing, hunting, golfing , gardening, birds and beaches. He took great care to provide for his family and to meet everyone’s needs. Arthur was smart and strong and faithful to all. He had a personal relationship with God and shared that he talked with him in the week before he passed. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 1 at the West Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 11020 W. Broad St., with the family to receive friends starting at 1:00 p.m. Interment is private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Samaritans Purse, Bon Secours Hospice or to a charity of your choice.
